The first thing to note about this blaster is that it isn’t suitable for very young children. Because the discs can fly pretty far, they can be painful if you get hit. For safety reasons, the blaster should never be aimed at the face or eyes, and you may want to purchase Nerf eye protection to go with this. It’s suitable for kids aged eight and above.

Now, onto what makes the Nerf Vortex Vigilon such a good toy. Firstly, the Vortex line is new in the Nerf range and brings with it some new technology. These blasters send discs out at long distances, as opposed to the foam darts you’re used to seeing. The discs are fun to play with and offer a new spin on a classic range of toy.

The best thing about the discs is the XLR technology used to propel them. This stands for extra long-range, meaning that you can shoot the discs very far with the Vigilon – around 30 feet in range. This is pretty impressive and something that kids will love. The only downside is that it’s easier to lose the discs once you’ve shot them! You can buy extra discs separately if you need them.

As for the way the gun works, it’s easy for kids to hold and reload. The mechanism means that reloading is quick: simply stack the discs and then place them into the included slot. The only thing to note is that this is a little bigger than some other Nerf blasters given that it only fits five discs.

To conclude, the Nerf Vortex Vigilon Blaster is an excellent toy for kids aged eight and above. One of the best things about it is how much play kids will get out of it in proportion to the cost: it’s cheap to buy but kids will love it!
